It doesn’t take much for Latinos to engage in conversation with a stranger, to add a few good personal stories, to comment as an expert regardless of expertise, and regardless of topic. Whether it be about finance or friendship, politics, or love, Latinos have something to say, something to add and share with others. Communication and conversation is what drives them, it helps them belong in new spaces as well as it helps them stay connected to stories, people and places from the past. Conversation, communication and sharing is what they do, the natural thing, it is part of the Latino DNA.

Now with social media in the mix Latinos have yet another tool to organize and enhance relationships. Through the usage of blogs, social networks, mobile and video sharing sites this way of communicating is increasing rapidly as millions and millions of Latinos now look to social media websites to exercise what they are already pretty good at: Being social!

As we witness this dramatic communication shift from traditional to social media, we believe it’s important to examine its cultural dimensions—that is, who is driving this shift within the Latino market, what are the cultural factors behind it, where is it going, and what are the implications for marketers seeking to reach this lucrative consumer via social media. Regardless of new technologies coming into the market, culture is still the glue that bonds people together and we want to know how this will continue to affect Latinos in the future.

To help us crack down the digital social code among Latinos, we have invited the following panelists to lead the conversation:

  • Javier Saralegui founder of univision.com
  • Dave Chitel founder of icaramba.com
  • Casey Jones from Mocospace
  • Juliet Goldsand from Myspace
  • Mommy Blogger Migdalia Rivera
  • Michael Collette from Forrester Research

Hope to see you here.
